The Contrast Chain is an easy and versatile pattern for learning fantasy beading. It can be worn as a necklace, adapted into a bracelet, or shaped into earrings.

This pattern is simple to master and is suitable for both beginners and advanced beaders.

🧵 Materials

• Black beads
• White beads

• White nylon thread

• PVA glue or clasp

✂️ Tools
• Beading needle
• Scissors

🧵 Base

1️⃣ Make the Base Chain
String white beads onto the thread.
The length should match the desired length of the finished chain.

2️⃣ Secure the Ends
Tie the thread ends together.
Apply a small amount of glue to the knot and cut off the excess thread.
If making a short chain, attach a clasp instead of tying.

🌊 Waves

1️⃣ Start a New Thread
Insert a needle with a new thread into one of the base beads.
Make a stop bead at the end of the thread.

2️⃣ Add Black Beads
String 4 black beads onto the thread.
Pass the needle through the third base bead from the starting point of the waves.

3️⃣ Continue the Pattern
Repeat Step 2 along the entire chain, inserting the needle into every second bead of the base.

4️⃣ Make the Second Row of Waves
Create another circle of waves using black beads in the same way.

5️⃣ Arrange the Waves
Gently spread the piece so that the waves lie on both sides of the base.

📌 Tip

If you make the second row of waves by passing the thread through the base beads that were not used in the first row, the pattern will form a more realistic wave-like effect.
